Two Tools: Empathizing → Modeling

L2

Problem: People don't really read the report (or shared document) you worked hard on. Some open it, but no one reads to the end and responds. You apply 2 tools to this problem, in order.

Step 1 — Empathizing: Pick 1 real person who receives that document and write, in the first person, 5 or more sentences of their inner voice from the moment they open it. Their day, time pressure, and interests must be reflected. Step 2 — Modeling: Using what you learned in Step 1 as material, build a model of that person's 'read / don't read' decision as inputs (2–3) → relationships → output. Be sure to (1) separate the empathizing output from (2) the modeling output, and (3) end with one line on what would have differed if you'd built the model first without empathizing.
